We see her urge to accomplish something in life when she asks permission to study Literature and Arts to her parents, a request she is declined. She wants to be brave, feel pretty but every time she is shackled by the chains of her conservative family. We see at the beginning how alienated she feels from the rest of the family. The author introduces us to the character of Elsinore (Elsa) who has been born and brought up in a family that has learned to hate her. It follows the Dust-Bowl Era, i.e an era where dust storms were very common and brought along with the droughts that plagued MidWest and Southern Regions of the Country. The Story is set during the times of the Great Depression in the United States. Get a copy of The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah here. She is known for her signature style of writing and also because all of her books have female protagonists. Both the books had helped Hannah to reach a wide audience and also gather a following. It also reminded me of my BookTube phase where I had heard the name The Nightingale, quite a few times in the recommendations. It’s shameful to admit that I came across Kristin Hannah’s writing via a Netflix show that was based on one of her books, i.e Firefly Lane.
